Crans Montana lays its claim to the sunniest plateau in the Alps, facing south with breathtaking views over the Rhône valley and across to the sprawling peaks beyond.
Comprising of three villages, Crans-sur-Sierre, Montana and Aminona, this resort offers all year round skiing as summer visitors can reach the Plaine Morte Glacier at an amazing height of 3000m. The resort also is a favourite for the top golfers, as it hosts the European Masters Golf tournament every September, on its spectacular and challenging course redesigned in 1999 by Seve Ballesteros.
Crans Montana offers a large ski terrain suitable for all levels, with a huge array of blue and red runs in particular. It is also a favourite for cross-country skiers with excellent wooded trails providing not only a splendid setting, but also cover during bad weather. Beginners are also catered for, as the golf course offers excellent gradual slopes for those starting the sport. The modern, well designed lift system reduces the amount of liftlines in the resort, and the ascent to the slopes is wonderfully scenic, via five gondolas spread across the base of the mountain.
Off-piste, Crans Montana offers a glitzy social scene, with visitors enjoying the wining and dining on offer as much as the skiing. The town also claims to have the best shopping in the Alps with designer boutiques including Gucci, Louis Vuitton and Hermès.
