Several lakes make up the district but the most renowned are Lake Maggiore, Lake Lugano, Lake Como and Lake Garda, with the first two running into Swiss landscape.
Lake Como is one of the most popular destinations out of the Italian Lakes destinations, regularly frequented by celebrities seeking a second home or wedding venue, and ideally located close to Milan in the north of Italy. The lake covers over 50km and has been found to be extremely deep and its popularity as a holiday destination dates back to the Roman Empire. Visitors have since flocked to appreciate the clear waters usually choosing to stay in the luxurious Italian villas overlooking the lake from the hills above.
Vacallo, located in Ticino, Switzerland is a mere 20 minutes drive from Lugano Regional Airport and 35minutes from Milan Malpensa International airport, is a charming village with 2 churches, restaurants, and all local amenities. Located on a hill and walking distance from the town of Chiasso, both Vacallo and Chiasso are found on the southern end points of Switzerland and have their own borders patrol between the two countries.
Ideally situated in the Swiss ‘pre-Alps’ at the border to Italy, just minutes from Lake Como and Lake Lugano, the little hill town of Vacallo in the Mendrisiotto District of Canton Ticino is the perfect base-camp for innumerable and memorable outings to the three major lakes (Maggiore, Lugano and Como) and their internationally renown lakeside towns like Cernobbio, Bellagio, Como, Morcote, Gandria, Lugano, Locarno, Luino and Stresa, just to name a few, as well as to a number of gorgeous alpine valleys and many northern Italian towns like Milan, Varese, Pavia, Parma, Bologna, Mantova, Brescia, Bergamo, Verona, Venezia, Genova, Torino and many more.
Foreign investment is currently restricted in Switzerland but the process is thoroughly simplified in the Canton of Ticino, allowing foreign investors to purchase before prices dramatically increase when the laws are relaxed over the next years, thus ensuring excellent capital appreciation on early purchases.
