La Thuile is an undiscovered gem in the Italian Alps. As the Where to Ski and Snowboard Guide 2009 states, it “deserves to be better known internationally”. It is part of the Aosta Valley Ski Area, with access to 155 km of slopes. It also links to the resort of La Rosiere in France, offering the opportunity to cross-border skiing. It boasts excellent beginner and intermediate slopes, as well as some great expert runs, especially over to La Rosiere. Its extensive pistes are usually very uncrowded, and being North-facing, keep the snow well throughout the whole season.
At the foot of the lifts is the modern Planibel complex with many après ski activities, just over the river is the old village, charmingly restored, with a variety of restaurants and bars.
