The Espace Killy is advertised - via its distinctive logo - as "le plus belle espace du ski du monde" ("the most beautiful ski area in the world"). Named for the French Olympian and World Cup skier Jean-Claude Killy, the area presents a powerful case for deserving this self-acclaimed title.
A mecca for off-piste skiers, the Espace Killy has some of the most spectacular scenery in the Alps, from the Aiguille du Percee ('Eye of the Needle') rock formation to its views of the lake and dramatic dam in the Tignes valley. 300km of linked and easily accessible pistes form a vast ski area which can take skiers of all levels from glaciers to hidden valleys to mountain top club in one day. 22 green runs, 61 blues, 46 reds and 25 blacks cater for every taste, while the two parks (one with boardercross) will keep skiers and snowboarders alike entertained.
Encompassing the infamous resorts of Val D'Isere and Tignes (a vibrant year-round resort made up of Tignes Le Lac, Val Claret, Les Boisses and Les Brevieres) the Espace Killy is undoubtedly a world-class ski destination, with plenty to offer both on the slopes and off.
