Val Thorens is the highest ski resort in Europe at 2330m. Thanks to its six impressive glaciers, the resort provides doorstep skiing on guaranteed snow, which makes it an ideal base for keen skiers and families. With over 600km of pistes available the extensive local slopes suit all abilities, and there is a good access to the rest of the vast Three Valleys.
The village itself is one of the better designed high-altitude stations of the Three Valleys with more and more smart lodgings and restaurants. At the heart of the resort is the snowy Place de Caron, where pedestrians mix with skiers and snowboarders. The shops and restaurants are clustered here, along with the best hotels; and the sports and leisure centres are nearby. The resort is also car free.
